Kamala, Phuket | Rental - Holiday | From THB 5,803 per night

I stayed in this Phuket holiday home for a month. The moment I arrived I was struck by the beauty of the well-tended garden, the cleanliness and stylish decor of the interior and the comfortable area by the pool. Several restaurants can be found in the immediate vicinity, notably the next door clubhouse where tasty, moderately-priced food was available. Also, the manager of the clubhouse restaurant, Patty, was kind and helpful and a useful source of information about local tourist attractions and so on. The holiday home is also near to a very pleasant beach where we enjoyed several beautiful sunsets with evening drinks. It was a thoroughly enjoyable month and I hope I shall have a chance to return.

My wife and I stayed at this villa in Kalama Nathong House for a month as a working holiday and really enjoyed our stay.

The house is spacious (sleeps 6), comfortable and is beautifully presented with antique furniture and a modern kitchen. The villa has a beautiful pool - which can be accessed directly from two of the bedrooms - and gardens front and back.

The villa is in quiet suburb 10 minutes walk to the beach at Kamala and has a very relaxing atmosphere. The pool-side sala was super for eating al-fresco and the pool was well-kept and clean.

Both my wife and I could work remotely thanks to dedicated broadband connections. The house is set on one level with the private carport - which made access easy for my wife who was getting treatment for a leg injury in Phuket International Hospital.

I would recommend the villa in Kamala Nathong for a short or long stay, as it provides all the comforts of home with many of the luxuries you would like to have. The management were most helpful should you need help with anything.

I had the pleasure of renting Dave Wilks' property in Kamala Beach, Phuket, for a couple of weeks in the spring of 2010 and it was a fantastic choice. It's a beautiful property with a great high ceiling above the main room, large bedrooms, spacious kitchen, and tasteful furnishings throughout the house. My favourite aspect - predictably - was the swimming pool which I enjoyed morning noon and night, rain or sun, lighting on or off, waterfall on or off (depending on whether I wanted to listen to music at the same time). The location is very handy, especially for Kamala Beach and the airport, and there are useful facilities in the club house around the corner, although a bit more air-conditioning in the club's computer room would have been appreciated. (There is broadband available in the property but I didn't have my laptop with me). One bit of advice! - if you are coming back from a late night out, enter beside the garage - don't risk a late dip into the huge fish pond in the front garden!

We arrived in Phuket at 5am after an overnight bus trip from Bangkok. Not something I would recommend but we were unable to get a flight. After a 40 minute ride in a Phuket taxi we arrived at our ''home'' for the next month. And we were not disappointed. On opening the gates we were met by a good sized front garden with a large pond, decking, seating area which looked out over the pond and nicely planted front garden. On opening the front door we were taken aback at the living area. The lounge/dining area has an eye catching high ceiling. It is a very light area with plenty of space with good sized dining table and seating plus a large comfortable sofa. Should you wish to there is a television to watch with English language programmes although we hardly turned it on during our stay. There are 3 double doors, 2 of which lead out to the impressive back garden which boasts a very inviting, nicely designed swimming pool. However on closer inspection the pool was not so inviting. The water was not at it's best. As it was only about 6.00am we were not too disappointed. A few hours later (after speaking to the onsite management company) the pool had been cleaned and the necessary chemicals added to the water. At the head of the pool there is a nice waterfall feature which is proved to be a nice cooler in the extreme heat. Also at one end of the pool there is a seating area which is also a good place to relax and escape the heat. To the side of the pool there is a nice covered seating area, ideal for an evening barbeque. Again the garden has been nicely planted. At night it is well lit, as is the swimming pool. Moving back inside the kitchen is fully equipped and has everything needed. The property has 3 large bedrooms all with double doors which either bring you out to the front garden or back garden and swimming pool. The main bedroom has a four poster bed which is nice, but lacks the finishing touch of curtains. The room being used as a store room which could easily be used as a bedroom. The 2 main bedrooms are both en-suite and the whole property is fully air conditioned which is needed but expensive to run. I would recommend using the air conditioning only at night. A problem we encountered in one of the en-suite bathrooms was the floor sloped away from the drain which meant excess water had to be swept towards the drain. Hardly a disaster but a little surprising in a property finished to a good standard.
The village in which the property is located is clean and quiet. We did not experience any disturbing noise during our stay. Directly opposite the property is a clubhouse with restaurant and swimming pool. Food will be delivered on request. It also has a small ''gym'' and internet room. The property we stayed in also had an Internet connection but it took a day to get it working.
We enjoyed our stay and other than the couple of the minor things I mentioned can think of nothing that would spoil a holiday in Kamala. One thing I would add is that the garden does need watering, especially in the hot season so if plants are not your thing perhaps you would be better off in an apartment as it would be a shame if the plants were left to dry out in the heat.
