This is a fantastic place in every aspect. We stayed for 7 weeks and right from our initial enquiry thought they were very responsive. We sent a few emails asking questions about the place and every email was answered within 12 hours, some immediately. The General Manager Lillian is probably the best resort manager we have met, she is very approachable, helpful and makes sure that all guests are well looked after during their stay.
The resort is close to the airport, and about 40 minutes by car from Patong. The hotel offers a daily free shuttle service to Phuket and Patong. If you want a really relaxing and quiet holiday then you should seriously consider this resort. There are 1 and 2 bedroom apartments available, (we stayed in a one bedroom apartment) and pool villas. The apartments have cooking facilities which was ideal for a 7 week stay. The resort has an excellent spa, and there are 2 small gyms with excellent equipment. There are also two swimming pools, the one at the residence is excellent for fitness swimming as it is 25m long. It is also equipped with a jacuzzi.
The resort is located in the area of Nai Yang, which during the off season is very quiet, there are a few places to eat and drink, however the best food was in the restaurant at the hotel, and if you love Thai food as we do it was no more expensive than eating at the beach. There is a nice bakery attached to the resort (Bread and Butter) which serves lovely coffee and cakes and also sells bread and delicatessen items.
All in all can’t recommend this resort enough and will certainly return one day.
There are two bedroom apartments here, ideal for families, and also gorgeous pool villas, which we had a look at it, they are very private and as the name suggests have their own private plunge pool.
The facilities here include two small fully kitted out gyms, 2 large pools, the one in the residence was our favourite, good for swimming lengths and also had a large jacuzzi within. There is a small library, table tennis, internet, free wifi in all rooms, a wonderful spa, (the best we have encountered), a small shop, the bakery, and of course the main restaurant/bar. The food in the restaurant was really tasty, especially the Thai food, and the prices were comparable to the beach restaurants along the road from here, making it very good value. Breakfast was not included in our package (although generally included for a short stay) and we found it to be quite expensive when compared to the lunch and evening menus, but we tended to cater for ourselves so it was no issue. The resort lays on a daily free shuttle bus to Phuket and Patong, which is very useful as there are very few shops in the Nai Yang area. It leaves here at 1pm and picks up at 6pm in Phuket and 6.30pm in Patong, getting you back to the resort by 7.30pm. We did consider renting a car but opted out as the roads are very busy, and the locals tend to drive like trainee formula 1 drivers, which is a little unnerving. Far better to take the shuttle.
We were here during what is considered to be the rainy reason, the weather was generally ok, but on days when it rained continually it could be difficult be keep yourselves amused. There is very little to do in Nai Yang, there are a few bars/restaurants but we didn't think the food we ate on the beach was that good, the quality was lacking. To get to the main nighlife you need to walk along the beach road, which can be very dark and you need to be careful of the territorial dogs. There is some building work going on opposite the reception area, we are told that the building is going to be shops, which would be very beneficial. A lot of maintenance work was being carried out whilst we were here, the management are keen to ensure that everything is in tip-top shape for the main season, although this did mean some minor disturbances for us. The staff here are pretty amazing, they cannot do enough for you and are very friendly. All in all, this is a great place to come for a few days to relax and forget about the outside world.
Had read some lovely reviews on Trip Advisor and that decided us.
From start to end the place is a gem. Free airport pickup had us to the hotel in minutes.
The staff were so friendly and seemed a little confused as to why we would stay only one night. Once we got in, we were confused ourselves as to why we did not stay longer:)
Originally booked the cheapest room (ground floor 1 bedroom), but we scored a room on the 3rd floor with a lovely outlook over the pool to the beach.
The room itself was incredible. Fantastic kitchen, comfy bed. Really well finished off to a high high specification. And so clean - not even the usual scuff and wall marks. Wow, this place prides itself on cleanliness.
Room service for lunch as we had been travelling for nearly 18 hours. My Phad Thai was delish and hubby loved his club.
Dinner that night in the resort restaurant was lovely, we had a whole private dining room to ourselves to lounge in (well it was low season:).
When we saw the Tapas menu, our decision was made and we ordered one of each item (about 8 in all). Bless their little cotton socks, they bought out two of each but made sure we knew they were only charging us for one serve (they must have thought we needed fattening up, but as I have a lap band, I could not manage to down all of mine).
Yummo, what a great way to start our holiday. Great room, brilliant food and friendliness everywhere from all the staff.
Kudos to the management and staff of this great little resort. If you are planning a long stay, the kitchen will do you so well in preparing your own stuff, the restaurant is lovely and the restaurants down the beach a bit (about 200 metres walk) will serve up your hearts desire.
And a bonus - no noise at all from the airport.
The room was great with a fully catered kitchen area which meant that we could cook our own meals as well as dine at their restaurant (which was some of the best food we had on our honeymoon). We also enjoyed room service on a few occasions which was promptly delivered.
The room was well kitted out with two LCD TVs, a DVD player and even WiFi internet!
Air-conditioning in the apartment worked well and was on for a lot of the time. The air-con in the bedroom had a quiet mode which was great for during the night.
Location is great for the airport and for being right next to the beach. We did however feel quite far from the main areas of Phuket when it came to shopping and supermarkets. The plus side to this is that Dewa and Nai Yang felt a lot less touristy than other places on the island!
Overall, it is a great resort and we'd love to go back there again as we had a very relaxing time!
Van arrived on time at our hotel in Patong and drove us up north to Nai Yang. Driver was decent but didn't speak much English. Not too bothered, we enjoyed our drive along the coast and soon arrive at the hotel lobby. It's not the typical 5-star lobby you may expect but it's simple and nice. We were greeted with 2 glasses of the "purple" juices and check-in was easy. All the details were ready and within minutes, we were shown to our room.
First impression as we entered the room, Wonderful. 2 day beds placed at one side of the garden and a good sized private pool on the other. Right in front of us is the sliding door leading into our room, which was spacious and tastefully designed.
Room was tidy and welcome flowers we placed on the front table and at the open air bath. Also had a welcome card placed on the table from their Resort Manager, Lillian W. Carpenter.
After exploring our room for the next 15 minutes, we realized that the unit allocated for us had limited privacy. We requested for a change and was immediately arranged. We were transferred to another room and settled in the room for the rest of the afternoon.
Enjoyed the private pool, the bath, open air shower, soft and comfy bed and pillows and not forgetting the lcd TV. The plus is reception is extremely good. Picture quality of cable tv is excellent, unlike the 4-star hotel we stayed in Patong.
We spent our evening at the beach. Quality of the water and sand was pretty good but the the beach directly in front of the resort was too deep (steep and under current strong). We had to walk further down the beach for a dip where the sea seems calmer. There is a stretch of local bars and restaurants, which serves good local food for a fair price (Not as cheap as I thought for a place like this, but affodable for sure).
As the restaurant is located around 800-1000m away and the stretch of road leading back to the resort was dark, we decided to rent a scooter from this lady called Paew (she operates at one of the shop near the restaurants) for only 250 baht (full 24 hours). Very friendly and helpful, you could probably get some cheap tours from her too. Please check the price first of course!
We started our following morning at the breakfast area with many choices to pick from. You can select from local to american breakfast, well presented and quality was good. Sitting outside the restaurant made the breakfast even better, sunny and windy. We shopped at the in-house mart (they sell beer the same price as 7-11) and later borrowed a couple of DVDs from the reception. One tip, because of mart closes at 6pm (if im not mistaken), there is also an alternative 100m away, a local mart.
Did almost the same thing over on the second day and left the hotel after 2 nights. Overall experience is good. If you are looking for a place to "Ooohhmmm" or relax, it's highly recommended. If you're looking for a place for excitement and activities, Patong is still the place to go. It's too far if you are thinking of travelling from Nai Yang to Patong.
Sidetrack a little, we actually stayed in Burasari at Patong, which we find is also a good choice. Fairly priced and it's in the middle of everything!
Other recommendations - If you would like to sign up for day trips of tours (Eg. Elephant trekking, fishing, ATV etc), please don't buy it online. It is way too expensive. Spend some time surveying and comparing prices between the local booths, they could give you 2/3 or even half the price posted on the internet. Also, the trick is, sign up as many trips as you can with just one person and you'll get yourself a bargain.
We paid 6000 baht for 2 person for
1. An hour of ATV ride
2. An hour of elephant trekking
3. Full day fishing trip
4. VIP tickets to Simon carberet show. You do the math!
Have fun in Phuket! We enjoyed our trip very much and hope you do too!
My boyfriend and I really dislike the crazy resort stips (like Patong), so we were worried that all of Phuket would be like that. Boy, were we wrong! Nai Yang is literally 10 minutes from the airport (you can see the planes take off, but it's not loud at all). It's a sleepy strip of local restaurants, massage parlours, and couple of hotels. Try the little restaurant shacks right on the beach - they all have a point and order English menu even if they don't speak.
Nai Yang is a great stepping off point for other attractions around Phuket, including some of the surrounding islands.
The resort is set off to one side of Nai Yang, right next to a national park. The resort is NOT physically on the beach. You will have to walk out of the resort and cross a road to get to the beach, but really just a 2 minute walk.
The beach villas are amazing! Your own private "house"/room with a small private pool and outdoor bathroom. The villas all have AC, which is pretty necessary in Thailand. They also have a flat-screen tv and dvd player in case you want to just hang out.
Housekeeping was very good, and they clean your pool every day. There was also good turn down and welcome service - always had ice in the bucket when we got back in the evening. Breakfast was included for us, and was a tasty 3 course extravaganza every morning.
